Permanent Hair Reduction

IPL is a safe and effective permanent hair reduction method. At Bathurst Laser Skin Care, we are an SHR IPL Treatment Clinic and use exclusive medical-grade equipment and technology.

SHR is the latest in state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light Treatments (IPL) and is able to deliver pain-free, permanent hair reduction.

By gradually heating the hair follicle, our SHR treatments disrupt the hair follicle’s growth so you can look forward to a lifetime of smooth skin with only occasional maintenance required.

While SHR IPL works best on darker shades of hair, our IPL treatments are suitable for shades of blonde and red hair. 

Depending on your hair type, treatment sessions will vary; most clients will require 8-10 sessions to achieve brilliant results. Your therapist will provide a detailed assessment during your consultation.

• Avoid sun exposure 4 weeks prior to your treatment
• Use SPF daily
• Prior to your first treatment try not to remove the hair for four weeks
• Do not wax, tweeze or pluck the hair during the duration of your treatment. You may shave the area
• All clients are required to have a consultation prior to any form of Permanent Hair Reduction. A test patch will be performed to make sure there are no adverse reactions to the treatment. If deemed suitable, we are able to commence your treatment program 24 hours after your consultation.

Our clients usually achieve 80-90% reduction within 6-8 treatments. That is why we offer packages that cater for 6 treatments. The ‘uniqueness’ of you is a big factor that will determine the number of treatments needed. Your highly trained therapist will discuss this more during your consultation.

You will certainly be able to feel the IPL treatment but it should not be painful-most of our clients tell us that it is far more comfortable than waxing!

With IPL Hair Reduction treatments we recommend body areas to be treated every 4 weeks. Areas on the face may need treatment every 2 weeks. As your treatment progresses this time frame may change. 

Electrolysis has been used since 1875 and is the only scientifically and medically FDA approved permanent hair removal method. During your treatment a fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle, a short pulse of energy is applied which will stop any form of nourishment to the stem cells of the hair follicle, gradually leading to the complete destruction of the hair. 

Electrolysis is effective on all skin types and all hair types and colours.
